May 2025 Update

Screen Staffordshire: May 2025 Update

May has been an exciting month for the new film office – not least as we have finally been able to show off our shiny new branding!

We have worked closely with our branding partners to visualize who we are, what we do and where we do it – as simply as possible.

This is one of the first key steps in creating a film office brand which encompasses our characteristics and deliverables for the film and tv sector, signifying we know what we are doing and that we can be trusted.

We hope you like it as much as we do, as you’ll be seeing a lot more of it moving forward – including on full display at our official film office launch in June. Anyone who wishes to attend has until 12pm on Monday, 2nd June next week to register – you can do so here and we’d love to have you with us.

The launch has come around quickly, and we’ve been working hard on several key factors throughout May with this in mind. Matters such as our online permitting system and locations, crew and suppliers libraries will be – and, indeed, already have been – integral in providing solutions to the sector, who then invest locally. The implementation of this tech feeds the appetite of our ambitions and aims; needless to say, as a local authority, we have been meticulous in ensuring that services are optimized against value for money. The very same goes for the website where these will be hosted – which looks great so far and will be a real moment for us at the launch.

Pleasingly, simultaneously to all of these brilliant developments and steps forward, we have been working with the sector. The film office worked with five productions throughout May – all differing sizes, budgets, needs and asks. We were pleased to spend time out and about on recces with those at the bigger end of the scale, and we are hopeful that they see value in prospectively coming back to Staffordshire to film with us.

The film office was also pleased to continue to share local and relevant professional opportunities with a network of talent, as we also did in April; and get some time in with the Filming in England team around national and regional priorities, before attending Lichfield Cathedral’s Gala Dinner (where we caught a glimpse of the 5,000 year-old Fenland table!).

June will be a huge moment for us, and we cannot wait for it. If you have any questions, please contact filmoffice@wearestaffordshire.co.uk
